Dreams Into Action
Last week, for the first time, I saw one of my creations on the television. We tall take for granted all the different things we see, be it on the television or the red carpet. We never think about everything that goes into a creation.
I wanted to show you why this one tie - and everything I create - means so much to me, how anyone with just a thought can make anything possible.
This is the tie being worn by the Chris Jacobs, the newscaster on "The Insider":
Every design is inspired by something in my travels. Several trips to the island of Zanzibar inspired an entire collection. The tie above is called "Looks Like Money" - and I'll tell you why.
The above door caught my eye - and I thought it was incredible. If you take a look closer, you will see exactly what I mean. The above design to the right is beautiful. I didn't want it to look like the interlocking "CC"s of Chanel. So I added lines, which gave it the look of our US currency - hence "Looks Like Money". The bottom is the size I want the pattern to be, and I've enlarged it so it is legible.
So from one simple door thousands of miles away, the above design is created and sent to Stephen Walters in London, one of the oldest silk tie makers in the world - and the last in England. What comes back to me is a "blanket" with this I can see different colours, pick the ones I want (pink dot) for the collection or "tweek" the colours.

From there, it goes back to England, where they are made into neckwear. It was then sent back to our distribution center in the Midwest, where it went to Zaharoff's PR office in New York. "The Insider's" stylist was introduced to Zaharoff and had the neckwear sent to Los Angeles were it was seen by millions.
